Weekend Update

Saturday evening HOFWs hosted a wine tasting for our esteemed client and friend Lydia Stringer.  Lydia's boyfriend, Imran, celebrated the big 3-0 in style with wine and gourmet food in a private spot in the back of Bourbon Street.  The highlight of the evening was Bill wooing the crowd with a  'Happy Birhtday' serenade.

Happy Birthday, Imran!

HOFWs
Sunday and we were back at the Island East Market for the third go.  Of all the weeks, this week topped with attendance.  There was a steady flow of market dwellers from 10-3 when people started to peter out and head home.

Some highlights of the market include:

Homemade bread, omellet, Spanish ham and cheese
Paella!!!  Taverna del Mar chef Domenec was pumping out paella after paella, and yet the crowd could not be abetted.  Also available was Spanish ham, Spanish omelette (yummm!), and homemmade bread.  Definitely a crowd favorite.  Make sure to stop into their Quarry Bay restaurant for your own paella paired with Spanish wine, sherry, and beer!

Squid Ink Paella

Pies! Tai Tai Pie Pies was back again with a gamet of pies.  Sweet and savoury.  I was lucky enough to try the creamed spinach and sausage pie.  The filling was great, but the crust totally made it. I know where I'm going for my Thanksgiving pumpkin pie.

Spanish and Swiss wines (and chocolate!)
Cheese!  Classified was present with quite the selection of fine cheeses.  Did you know they offer a monthly cheese service delivered straight to your door!?  Check out here for details on how to get 6 gourmet cheeses delivered straight to your home (on the island).  What's your favorite wine and cheese pairing?  I like me a stinky blue with a big bold Rioja.

Music!  All day long different bands, singers, and acapella groups kept the masses entertained with their renditions of old classics and new favorites.  Has anyone else noticed a trend of covering Adele??  And there were not one, but 2 covers of Gangnam Style.  Really.

Of course there was tons of veg!
Only one week left to partake in all of the fun!  Get yourself down to Quarry Bay next Sunday for a whole day of entertainment!
