Corporate wine tasting extravaganza!  We partnered with Morgan Stanley and Bourbon Street last night for a tasting that took us through Europe.

We began the evening with an introduction to Champagne from our expert on all things France, Julia.  She described that our Champagne is unique as it is 100% Pinot Meunier.  Most champers are a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier, each adding it's own character to the blend.  Meunier gives the Champagne a distinctive mushroomy-earthy quality.

The Morgan Stanley-ites were then herded over to our friend Bill where he described our lovely Bordeaux white; Chateau Dubois Challon.  This is a really special blend of the typical Sauv Blanc and Semillon with a touch of aromatic Muscadelle.  Superb.

Next on the tour is a stop in La Mancha, Spain, for a glass of Organic Syrah/Cabernet blend.  Sean explained the benefits of drinking organic wine and the flavor profile of this spectacular Spaniard.   Red fruit, vanilla, and spice, this is perfect with a pepper steak.

Greg then set up a duel between vintages.  Two Saint Emilion Grand Crus; Merlot dominant, with Cab Franc blend.  Chateau Haut Veyrac 2003 versus 2009.  2009 was the unanimous winner across tasters and with aging potential out for the next 15 years, it's a steal!

I finally wrapped the whole evening up with another contest.  Barolo Albenza against its brother Barolo Verga.  Again there was a clear winner; the Verga.  The MS tasters were suprised at the not so pleasant tar/exhuast nose, but then blown away by the tannic mouth explosion.  I think the general consensus was Barolo is king.

We had such a blast with the 25+ Morgan Stanley bankers and we hope to see them for many many more wine events!  Thanks especially to Cos for organizing and gathering everyone, it was unforgettable!
